Finally finished reading Monster. What a roller-coaster that was. It’s been a while since I’ve read a manga that has kept me hooked nonstop for days on end. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a manga that has made me cry over every single chapter. That has made me feel all of the pain, the joy, the fear and misery the characters have experienced. I’m really tired now and I’m not really satisfied with the ending but oh well U_U
I’m glad I’ve finished reading it now, perhaps I can finally regain my emotional sanity. I felt some really odd emotions whilst reading this manga, I had lost myself in it. But this manga has shaped me a bit, changed my view on certain things, in the way I draw and write. I can actually say, this is going to be another manga that will have an influence on the way I draw and write from now on. For it to have a massive influence on the way I draw and write, that would mean it has had a massive influence on me. As I am what I draw. The last mangas that affected me like this was Life by Keiko Suenobu and Holyland by Mori Kouji. If it weren’t for their work I wouldn’t be the artist I am now, I am eternally grateful to them. I am also now eternally grateful to Naoki Urasawa. His work reminds me of something very important.
On a side note If you are extremely empathic and not very good at grounding I don’t recommend reading this manga lol
